Kevin Pindard - Business Director

Business Director

Kevin is the Business Director for Silicon Sensing UK and helps to steer the joint venture company along with the other Board members. Site General Manager for United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS), Plymouth, Kevin has a wealth of experience having started as an apprentice with the parent company some 30 years ago. Since then Kevin has moved through the organisation taking on increasing levels of responsibility, previous posts include Head of Manufacturing and Operations Director.

Steve Capers - General Manager

As well as being Product Line Manager for the Avionics Business within UTAS, Steve is the General Manager for Silicon Sensing Systems Limited. Since joining UTAS in 2012, Steve has managed a portfolio of avionics projects, including the concept phase for an innovative system for Commercial aircraft. Previous to this Steve was working at Thales UK, National Security and Resilience Business Segment, as Head of Special Projects from 2007 to 20012. Steve led multi-disciplinary teams of functional specialists to deliver high risk Ministry of Defence and Commercial projects. Steve also served an exemplary and progressive 24 year career in the British Royal Navy as an Electronic Warfare specialist.

Paul Eveleigh - UK Operations Manager

Paul oversees the day-to-day management of operations within Silicon Sensing UK. In addition to his UK duties he plays a key role in ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the Anglo-Japanese business. Paul has a background in Electronic and System Engineering and has been involved in launching a variety of products, from cars to mobile phones. Paul held senior management positions in customer-facing engineering service businesses over the last 12 years, before joining Silicon Sensing in December 2013. He is strongly customer-focused and drives for quality of service, an innovative approach and engineering excellence.

Eric Whitley – Business Development Manager

Erica joins the Silicon Sensing sales team with nine years of experience in the aviation industry and as a UTC alumni. Erica’s educational background is in business, graduating with honours from the MBA program at Pepperdine University. She is extremely customer orientated and prides herself on being responsive, attentive and transparent. Erica is eager to work with our customer base and provide high calibre support.

Ron Palermo - Business Development Director North America

Ron transitioned from a Silicon Sensing Distributor to the newest member of our Sales and Business Development Team. Ron served in the US Air Force as a Pilot and Program Manager and brings extensive experience in flight vehicle design, avionics and, of course, inertial systems design and engineering. He has managed inertial systems engineering teams and has a depth of knowledge of Silicon Sensing products, both as a distributor and a customer. Ron is well versed in the Silicon Sensing MEMS gyroscopes, accelerometers and IMU product lines and is keen to work with and support customers in North America.

Andy Hughes - Sales & Marketing Manager

Andy joined the UK parent company of Silicon Sensing (then British Aerospace) more years ago than he can believe. Trained as a Systems Engineer, with a BSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, he found his strength talking to customers about their requirements, then distilling those needs into delivered products. An avid gadget man and IT geek, Andy also controls the Silicon Sensing website and our increasing social media presence. As well as securing large orders for our current product range, and that of the parent company, Andy also plays a role in defining our marketing needs in terms of how we are positioned and perceived in the marketplace.

Caroline Langmaid – Sales Engineer

Caroline s'occupe de l'ensemble de nos activités traditionnelles. C'est généralement à elle que l'on adresse les nouvelles demandes d'informations. Caroline travaillait pour BAE Systems dans les premiers jours du gyroscope à état solide, avant de quitter l'entreprise pour fonder une famille. Elle a repris le travail avec la technologie actuelle, en l'occurrence les systèmes microélectromécaniques (MEMS) de pointe.

Beccy Durston – Sales Support & Logistics

Beccy a rejoint l'équipe Silicon Sensing début 2012 et joue différents rôles auprès de nos clients. La tâche principale de Beccy est de gérer l'ensemble de la logistique pour la livraison de nos produits aux clients. Elle est en outre responsable du traitement des commandes en ligne et veille à ce que nos produits soient livrés aux clients suivant le calendrier établi. Elle est également chargée de la gestion des stocks, de manière que nous puissions toujours répondre aux besoins de nos clients dans les délais prévus. Pour finir, Beccy assume la fonction essentielle de réception et de transmission des demandes des clients, veillant à ce qu'elles soient traitées avec la diligence et les compétences nécessaires.

Steve accompagne Silicon Sensing et les sociétés précédentes depuis plus de 30 ans. En qualité d'ingénieur système hautement qualifié, il possède une vaste expérience dans le développement de systèmes basés sur capteurs inertiels, tels que les plates-formes stabilisées, les appareils de visée, les gyromètres et les centrales inertielles. Steve a rejoint Silicon Sensing en qualité d'ingénieur technico commercial au sein de l'équipe de service à la clientèle, pour soutenir les clients et leur large gamme d'applications. Il est une véritable mine d'informations techniques pour les personnes qui souhaitent intégrer des gyromètres dans leurs systèmes et jouit d'un grand respect de la part de nos clients.

John Hall – Applications Engineer

Applications Engineer

John est un ingénieur en électronique hautement qualifié, qui possède plus de 36 ans d'expérience pratique dans le domaine de la conception électronique. Il a rejoint Silicon Sensing et sa société mère il y a 12 ans. L'une des principales responsabilités de John consiste à analyser les tests de qualification des produits Silicon Sensing. Grâce aux connaissances acquises sur les fonctionnalités et les caractéristiques de nos produits, John est en mesure d'apporter un soutien technique étendu aux clients, pour l'intégration des capteurs ou encore lorsque les choses ne se déroulent pas comme prévu.

Ian Lavers - Lead Software Engineer

Lead Software Engineer

Ian joins us as Lead Software Engineer and brings with him a wealth of experience having previously been involved in embedded software design for a wide range of applications; IMU and navigation systems, test equipment, low level driver design, and systems architectures for avionics products. As well as leading the software engineering team, Ian is responsible for ongoing software development process improvements, reducing time to market for new products and features whilst maintaining high levels of quality in software engineering.

Sarah Selwyn - Marketing

Sarah has been with UTC for 5 years in a variety of business admin positions and transferred to the Silicon Sensing JV in the Fall of 2013 having completed a special assignment. Sarah’s main responsibility is to research, plan and implement all of the company’s diverse PR and marketing activities. This involves identifying and organising online and trade media campaigns which meet the objectives of the business strategy as defined by the Silicon Sensing board. Another key aspect of her work is to plan and manage all logistical aspects of our trade show presence.

Paul Collins – Chief Engineer

Chief Engineer

Paul joined Silicon Sensing Systems in 2012 and was appointed Chief Engineer in early 2014. He has a BSc in electronic engineering from the University of Portsmouth and has developed a broad background in systems, electronics and software engineering. Paul has over 20 years of experience working with the parent company in the inertial sensors business. Initially involved in developing calibration and test methods for inertial sensors and Inertial Measurement Units, he has more recently lead design teams developing military, MEMS based IMUs
