Silicon Sensing can trace its ancestry back around 90 years to the early days of motion sensing, beginning with UK Sperry Gyroscope in 1908. Since then it has lead the development of practical gyro products right up the to present day, with the silicon MEMS technology now being the products of choice for the discerning designer.
The process of understanding , designing and developing practical gyroscope-based systems began in 1908 with Elmer Sperry. In the 1920s, Cunard fitted one of the first gyro-based compasses to the Aquitania liner. Much smaller devices saw service in Hurricane and Spitfire aircraft in the Second World War. Current aircraft deployments include the Nimrod and Hercules aircraft.
