Here are short bio’s of a few of the more customer-facing management and staff at Silicon Sensing UK. The team can deal efficiently with your enquiry and usually respond within one working day. Martin Couch – Business Director

Martin is the business director for Silicon Sensing UK and helps to steer the joint venture company along with the other UK and Japanese board members. Martin has been an employee of the parent company; Atlantic Inertial Systems (previously BAE Systems) for 25 years. Martin has a BSc in Systems Engineering from City University, London and an MBA from Plymouth University. Martin has a background in systems engineering and project management, with experience in both the Aerospace and Automotive sectors. Martin joined Silicon Sensing in 2006 as the Automotive Business Manager and became the Business Director for Silicon Sensing UK in 2012, whereupon he joined the board of the joint venture.

Paul Eveleigh - General Manager

Paul oversees the day-to-day running of Silicon Sensing UK here in Plymouth. In addition to his UK operational duties he plays a key role in ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the Anglo-Japanese business. Paul has a background in Electronic and System Engineering and has been involved in launching a variety of products, from cars to mobile phones. Paul held senior management positions in customer-facing engineering service businesses over the last 12 years, before joining Silicon Sensing in December 2013. He is strongly customer-focused and drives for quality of service, an innovative approach and engineering excellence.

Geoff Hardman – Chief Engineer

Geoff heads up the Engineering Team ensuring the performance and reliability of Silicon Sensing’s products. He’s a real gyro specialist with thirty years’ experience in motion sensing and inertial systems application. Formerly with British Aerospace, (then Atlantic Inertial Systems), he’s been with the Company from the start. Whether it’s a high volume, automotive or a safety related system, or a more bespoke requirement, Geoff is always happy to share his knowledge in solving application problems.

Eric Whitley – Business Development Manager

Eric heads up the Customer Support Team and manages the Commercial business at Silicon Sensing, Plymouth. With over 25 years of experience working for Atlantic Inertial Systems (previously BAE Systems) and more recently Silicon Sensing, Eric brings a wealth of expertise to the business. A mechanical engineer by training and profession, but with a broad project management, business and commercial background, Eric is equally happy to talk about your application and help you select the right product as he is discussing price and delivery.

Jon Wilkins - US Sales Manager

Jon has been with the parent and predecessor companies for 12 years in a range of engineering and program management roles for inertial instrument technology sustainment and development.  Jon transferred to Silicon Sensing in 2014 and is responsible for all sales and support of Silicon Sensing products and customers in the United States and Canada.

Caroline Langmaid – Sales Engineer

Caroline deals with all of our legacy business and is often the first point of contact for a new enquiry. She has a technical background and is knowledgeable on all aspects of the gyro technology and the product range. She will be able to offer advice on the best product for your application and point you in the right direction for supply from our distributor network or online sales facility. Caroline worked for BAE Systems in the early days of the solid state gyro but left to raise a family. She has returned to work with the technology now in its advanced MEMS form.

Steve Clarke – Applications Engineer

Steve has been with Silicon Sensing and predecessor companies for over 30 years. As a highly qualified Systems Engineer, he has extensive experience in the development of inertial sensor based systems such as stabilised platforms, sighting systems, gyroscopes and inertial measurement units. Steve transferred to Silicon Sensing side of the business as a Sales Applications Engineer within the Customer Support Team, supporting customers and their diverse range of applications. He is an excellent source of technical advice for would-be gyro integrators and is well respected by our customers.

John Hall – Applications Engineer

John is a highly qualified electronics engineer having notched up over 36 years of ‘hands on’ experience of electronic design.  He has been with Silicon Sensing and its parent company for 12 years.  One of John’s main responsibilities is analysing the qualification testing of Silicon Sensing products.  With the knowledge gained on the features and characteristics of our products John is able to provide in-depth technical support to customers either integrating the sensors or when things don’t quite go as expected.

Sarah Howe - Business Support

Sarah joined the Silicon Sensing team in 2013.  Sarah handles much of our procurement, but has additional responsibility for the regular maintenance and upkeep of our website and e-commerce.  As part of her role, and having a bit of a flair for creative design, Sarah produces a lot of our marketing and sales documentation.  When the workload demands it she provides assistance in Sales Logistics helping to liaise with our production site in Japan and ensure on-time delivery to all our customers.

Beccy Durston – Sales Support & Logistics

Beccy joined the Silicon Sensing team early in 2012 with a background of working in the electronics industry. She has several roles supporting customers. Beccy’s main job is to handle logistics for the delivery of our products to customers, ensuring our products reach the customer to agreed schedules.  She monitors our stock levels ensuring we can meet the demand needs of all our customers within expected lead-times.  Beccy is also involved in receiving and allocating customer enquiries ensuring they receive prompt and expert attention.

Sarah Selwyn - Marketing

Sarah has been with UTC for 5 years in a variety of business admin positions and transferred to the Silicon Sensing JV in the Fall of 2013 having completed a special assignment. Sarah’s main responsibility is to research, plan and implement all of the company’s diverse PR and marketing activities.  This involves identifying and organising online and trade media campaigns which meet the objectives of the business strategy as defined by the Silicon Sensing board.  Another key aspect of her work is to plan and manage all logistical aspects of our trade show presence.
