Kevin Pindard - Business Director
Kevin is the Business Director for Silicon Sensing UK and helps to steer the joint venture company along with the other Board members. Site General Manager for United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS), Plymouth, Kevin has a wealth of experience having started as an apprentice with the parent company some 30 years ago. Since then Kevin has moved through the organisation taking on increasing levels of responsibility, previous posts include Head of Manufacturing and Operations Director.
Steve Capers - General Manager
As well as being Product Line Manager for the Avionics Business within UTAS, Steve is the General Manager for Silicon Sensing Systems Limited. Since joining UTAS in 2012, Steve has managed a portfolio of avionics projects, including the concept phase for an innovative system for Commercial aircraft. Previous to this Steve was working at Thales UK, National Security and Resilience Business Segment, as Head of Special Projects from 2007 to 20012. Steve led multi-disciplinary teams of functional specialists to deliver high risk Ministry of Defence and Commercial projects. Steve also served an exemplary and progressive 24 year career in the British Royal Navy as an Electronic Warfare specialist.
Paul Eveleigh - UK Operations Manager
Paul oversees the day-to-day management of operations within Silicon Sensing UK. In addition to his UK duties he plays a key role in ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the Anglo-Japanese business. Paul has a background in Electronic and System Engineering and has been involved in launching a variety of products, from cars to mobile phones. Paul held senior management positions in customer-facing engineering service businesses over the last 12 years, before joining Silicon Sensing in December 2013. He is strongly customer-focused and drives for quality of service, an innovative approach and engineering excellence.
Paul Collins – Chief Engineer
Paul joined Silicon Sensing Systems in 2012 and was appointed Chief Engineer in early 2014. He has a BSc in electronic engineering from the University of Portsmouth and has developed a broad background in systems, electronics and software engineering. Paul has over 20 years of experience working with the parent company in the inertial sensors business. Initially involved in developing calibration and test methods for inertial sensors and Inertial Measurement Units, he has more recently lead design teams developing military, MEMS based IMUs
Eric Whitley – Business Development Manager
Eric heads up the Customer Support Team and manages the Commercial business at Silicon Sensing, Plymouth. With over 25 years of experience working for Atlantic Inertial Systems (previously BAE Systems) and more recently Silicon Sensing, Eric brings a wealth of expertise to the business. A mechanical engineer by training and profession, but with a broad project management, business and commercial background, Eric is equally happy to talk about your application and help you select the right product as he is discussing price and delivery.
Caroline Langmaid – Sales Engineer
Caroline deals with all of our legacy business and is often the first point of contact for a new enquiry. She has a technical background and is knowledgeable on all aspects of the gyro technology and the product range. She will be able to offer advice on the best product for your application and point you in the right direction for supply from our distributor network or online sales facility. Caroline worked for BAE Systems in the early days of the solid state gyro but left to raise a family. She has returned to work with the technology now in its advanced MEMS form.
Steve Clarke – Sales Applications Engineer
Steve has been with Silicon Sensing and predecessor companies for over 30 years. As a highly qualified Systems Engineer, he has extensive experience in the development of inertial sensor based systems such as stabilised platforms, sighting systems, gyroscopes and inertial measurement units. Steve transferred to Silicon Sensing side of the business as a Sales Applications Engineer within the Customer Support Team, supporting customers and their diverse range of applications. He is an excellent source of technical advice for would-be gyro integrators and is well respected by our customers.
John Hall – Applications Engineer
John is a highly qualified electronics engineer having notched up over 36 years of ‘hands on’ experience of electronic design. He has been with Silicon Sensing and its parent company for 12 years. One of John’s main responsibilities is analysing the qualification testing of Silicon Sensing products. With the knowledge gained on the features and characteristics of our products John is able to provide in-depth technical support to customers either integrating the sensors or when things don’t quite go as expected.
Ian Lavers - Lead Software Engineer
Ian joins us as Lead Software Engineer and brings with him a wealth of experience having previously been involved in embedded software design for a wide range of applications; IMU and navigation systems, test equipment, low level driver design, and systems architectures for avionics products.
As well as leading the software engineering team, Ian is responsible for ongoing software development process improvements, reducing time to market for new products and features whilst maintaining high levels of quality in software engineering.
Sarah Selwyn - Marketing
Sarah has been with UTC for 5 years in a variety of business admin positions and transferred to the Silicon Sensing JV in the Fall of 2013 having completed a special assignment. Sarah’s main responsibility is to research, plan and implement all of the company’s diverse PR and marketing activities. This involves identifying and organising online and trade media campaigns which meet the objectives of the business strategy as defined by the Silicon Sensing board. Another key aspect of her work is to plan and manage all logistical aspects of our trade show presence.
Beccy Durston – Sales Support & Logistics
Beccy joined the Silicon Sensing team early in 2012 with a background of working in the electronics industry. She has several roles supporting customers. Beccy’s main job is to handle logistics for the delivery of our products to customers, ensuring our products reach the customer to agreed schedules. She monitors our stock levels ensuring we can meet the demand needs of all our customers within expected lead-times. Beccy is also involved in receiving and allocating customer enquiries ensuring they receive prompt and expert attention.
